Starting as a carpenter's apprentice in 1976, Packey A'Hearn (President of Acorn Custom Builders) gained valuable experience for the next 6 1/2 years before going into business for himself as a sole-proprietor with the name Acorn Remodeling. Along with a team of dedicated professional tradesmen, they were soon able to take on any residential construction project. Over the years, the jobs have grown but the attention to detail has not changed. In 1999, the business was incorporated and the name was changed to Acorn Custom Builders, Inc.
All of our work is residential. We will do all types of construction, never wavering on our firm commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Our projects range from small repairs, to kitchens, bathrooms, finished basements, and window replacements up to major remodeling renovations, additions, and new homes.

Our experience as seen on the Projects page includes homes of all ages and styles. Having worked on several historic homes, we learned to appreciate the architectural elements these homes showcase so well. Matching details in these homes requires custom work, adding both challenges and fun to each job. Homes built since WWII, while less ornate, were an improvement as far as the framing and systems went. These improvements continue with the ever increasing requirements of building codes. Whether building or remodeling your home, we won't skimp on details in the design or in the structural integrity of your home.
